git-notifier software package provides git commit email notification script, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install git-notifier
git-notifier is installed in your system.
Make ensure the git-notifier package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep git-notifier *
You will get with git-notifier package name, version, architecture and description in a table
